The Last One is the story of college senior, Kevin States, not “States” (Kevin Lapsley), who made an independent film, because he honestly had nothing better to do at college, that now all of Hollywood wants because of an unexpected free national television plug.  Typically this would be a great thing, but in this case because Kevin and (Canz), friend/ co-executive producer/ agent, didn’t know what they were doing when they made the movie, they didn’t have anybody who filmed sign any contract giving the two the rights to sell the movie.

So, as Kevin scrambles to sign everybody quickly and quietly and as Canz tries to stall the movie studios who want to buy the movie some of the actors, with some sneaky persuasion from Karen Brown (Jacki Vogel), the senior reporter on the college paper who is trying to get the scoop, are holding out for all the money they can because they think Kevin and Canz have Ashley Dunn (Megan Buskirk), America’s #1 pop singer, in their pocket, because she is the one who plugged the movie on MHD’s music video countdown show for Kevin.
